What a year 2023 has been so far. It’s only the beginning of March and I’ve already dealt with far more challenges than I anticipated.
The good news is that I’m still trucking along, making progress on my goals. I’ve only missed writing on three days so far this year—a level of consistency I don’t think I’ve ever achieved before. I’m nearly half way through revising my draft, work on my cover design will be starting in a few days, and I plan on putting a pre-order up next month. I’ve also finally decided on a title (scroll down for the reveal 😊).
Exciting but scary! Self-doubt, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome plague me, as they always do.
A while ago, I changed the font in Scrivener to Comic Sans MS. I read somewhere that it’s a psychological trick to help you take your writing less seriously, thus reducing perfectionist tendencies. I think it works! Though I’m starting to become a little bit blind to it now. Maybe I’ll try Papyrus next… 😂
Another trick I’ve heard is to write to Mario music to help you write faster and get a higher word count. I can see how this would work, and I can’t wait to try it with my next draft!
Speaking of my next draft, I’m going start working soon on a new story that will be free for newsletter subscribers. I’ve also got an idea for my next novel simmering on the back burner, and I’m super excited about it.
That’s all from me this week.
Stay warm & cosy.
❤️
