The cosy romcom project
New details about my WIP
Dear reader,
As promised in my last newsletter, today I’m going to share a little bit more about my upcoming novel.
I’ve been a bit cagey with sharing details about it because there’s so much that still isn’t finalised. I haven’t decided on the title, the main character’s name (it’s currently Harriet, but that’s subject to change), the opening scene, and exactly how the story’s going to end.
There are still many details I need to iron out, but I’m happy to report that I’m over 58,000 words into the second draft, the couple is together, and they just have some final challenges to overcome before the HEA!
So, without further ado, here’s a draft blurb for this cosy romantic comedy about a romance author who falls for an eccentric accountant…
Harriet has a secret: she writes steamy romance novels under a pen name her family must never discover—which is a problem when she’s back living with her parents after a break up.
When her manuscript suspiciously disappears from her bedroom desk one day, Harriet needs to find a private place to write. Enter an unusual solution: a dusty, unused room (cupboard?) in a quirky accounting office run by Byron—an actor-turned-accountant with a love of art, music, and spreadsheets.
He offers to rent her the space. There’s just one condition.
Regular coffee meetings.
Officially, it’s to keep her accountable. Unofficially… Harriet isn’t so sure. Because the more time she spends with Byron, the more she suspects his interest isn’t entirely professional—and she’s not sure hers is either.
But Harriet’s about to discover that Byron has hangups and complicated family dynamics of his own. Sometimes real life is messier than fiction.
And here’s a rough little mood board I’ve put together for the book, to give an idea of the vibe:
In other news, I’ve received the draft illustrations for the new covers for the My K-Drama Life Series (The Practice Kiss, The Dating Drama, and The Superstar Scandal).
I am so pleased with the illustrations and looking forward to how the covers will turn out!
