Dear reader,
As at 22 November, I’m 25,732 words through my 30,000-word target for the Rough Draft Challenge. So it’s safe to say I’m on track to win the challenge! The only problem is that this story keeps growing and growing. I don’t think 30,000 words is going to be enough to be able to complete the first draft. I will likely keep working on it into December.
All in all, progress is good. I’ve resisted the urge to edit, found my rhythm and some good forward momentum. There are gaping holes in plot and character development, but I’m positive I’ll be able to address those in the second draft.
So once I finish this draft, the plan is to read it through, take notes, re-outline, then start the second draft! This will be my opportunity to edit and refine a bit.
Outside of writing, I’ve mainly been playing Stardew Valley. The obsession is real. Why did I sleep on this game for so long? I think it was because the general opinion seems to be that Rune Factory 4 Special is better. But I’m actually enjoying Stardew more than I liked RF4. It's more relaxing and feels a bit more mature. I love to wind down with it after work.
It’ s also that time of year where I’m starting to plan out my new year. I make a vision board in Pinterest for every year. In the past, I’ve just collected a bunch of images I liked for the vibes. This time, I’m being a bit more intentional. I found this video very inspiring:
